About the Project:
BLC Island Construction is seeking a dedicated and reliable Entry-Level Labourer to join our team on a large-scale commercial wood frame construction project in Duncan, BC. This project involves the construction of a 252-unit commercial wood frame development, including residential and mixed-use spaces. As an Entry-Level Labourer, you will play a key role in supporting the construction crew and ensuring the project runs smoothly.
Job Description:
As an Entry-Level Labourer at BLC Island Construction, you will assist experienced tradespeople and supervisors with various tasks on the construction site. You will be responsible for ensuring a clean, safe, and efficient work environment while supporting the overall construction progress.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with general site preparation, including digging, trenching, and leveling ground.
- Transport and handle materials, tools, and equipment to designated areas of the site.
- Clean and organize the construction site, removing debris, trash, and other obstacles.
- Assist with the assembly and installation of wooden frames, drywall, and other materials.
- Work closely with carpenters, electricians, and other tradespeople to ensure work is completed according to specifications.
- Operate basic construction tools and equipment, such as hand tools, drills, and saws, as directed.
- Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Report any issues, accidents, or safety hazards to the site supervisor immediately.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the construction crew.
Qualifications:
- No prior experience required; on-the-job training will be provided.
- Ability to lift heavy materials and work in a physically demanding environment.
- Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced tradespeople and supervisors.
- Strong work ethic, punctuality, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of construction tools and safety practices is an asset but not mandatory.
- Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Requirements:
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Reliable transportation to and from the job site in Duncan, BC.
- A valid Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) certificate is an asset (can be obtained upon hire).

About the Role:
BLC Island Construction is looking for a dependable and safety-minded Entry-Level OFA Level 2 or 3 to join our crew on a large-scale residential wood frame construction project in Duncan, BC. This is a great opportunity for someone beginning their career in construction or safety support to get hands-on experience while playing an essential role on-site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Support & Compliance
- Serve as the designated first aid attendant (OFA Level 2 minimum; Level 3 preferred)
- Promote and support a safe work environment by identifying hazards and enforcing safety policies
- Assist with WorkSafeBC compliance and documentation
- Site Operations
- Conduct site orientations for workers, subcontractors, and visitors
- Support delivery coordination and assist in receiving and organizing materials
- Perform general site clean-up and housekeeping
- Assist with light carpentry and basic labour tasks as required
Qualifications:
- Valid Occupational First Aid Level 2 (minimum)
Preference will be given to candidates with OFA Level 3
- Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in a construction setting
- Strong communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude
- Basic construction experience is an asset but not required
- Must be punctual, reliable, and safety-focused
Additional Information:
- The project is located on Cowichan Tribes First Nation land. We strongly encourage applications from Indigenous community members and those with ties to the Cowichan region.
